Emotions significantly affect all our decisions. Would you like to know how they affect your decisions as a business or life manager? The secret of making more rational decisions in private or business life is not to be the prisoner of the emotions. Especially if there aren't any connection between the decisions you have made and the emotions you experience... Let's look at our examples.

An event you experience while having breakfast at home can trigger some of your feelings; For example, in the morning, you realize that your partner spent more than you guessed and realized that he was planning a coup to your home economy. You got out of the house and reached your workplace with some worries, anger and sadness on the way. Can you get rid of these feelings at work? You also know that you continue to convey feelings about some events at work. The more likely you are to become more frustrated, more suspicious or more upset. In fact, the opposite is true for positive emotions. These emotions are often narrowing your perspective, allowing you to see certain events in your body differently than they actually are. I call it "narrowed selectivity."

Let's give one more example. You're in your car and while you're stuck in a traffic jam in Istanbul, a car on your right goes fast through the safety strip and it changes its direction to in your front. In the meantime, even when you read this sentence, some of you may get angry or upset. There may be many different reasons for you to be angry or upset. You may think that due to committing injustice behaved unfairly to the other people or you may think that a patient can lose his/her life by not receiving the treatment on time because of being blocked the safety strip or you have never thought about any of them… You're just mad. Because he took the lead in competition with you and he/she will arrive at work much earlier than you while you are fighting traffic.

When we return to the main issue, you have a new narrowed selectivity at the moment when you experience that feeling, because your body is ready with ready hormones to find a new anger, a new worry a new sadness. Your sensation has become more appropriate to find scenes that can be angry, anxious or distressing. You may welcome an event with laugh at any time, but you may receive it with anger in another time. In this case, even though the event is over, you can still continue to be captured by the hormones that continue to hold emotions irrelevant to the subject. Of course, every decision you make in such a situation will be heavily influenced by your perspective under this influence.

Either way, the person needs to improve his emotional competencies in order not to keep his emotional state same for a long time. However, with the development of these emotional competences, the person is able to reach decision-making skills independently and impartially. Of course it is not possible to be completely neutral, but it is still possible to reduce it. The world of science also works about this topic and the research continues on the subject.

Stephane Cote, a researcher at the University of Toronto, states that the development of emotional intelligence enables more accurate decision-making in such cases. He states that emotional intelligence may emancipate the emotions that aren't related to the topic, the decisions to be made and the only way for it is to improve emotional intelligence.

According to the magazine " Psychology Today ”, emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to understand and manage the emotions of oneself and others in psychology. According to journal Psychological Science, it defines effective decision making mechanisms considering different levels of emotion awareness. In one of the experiments, the researchers stated that the concern is at the highest level, especially when making risky decisions. In particular, no matter what source causes the level of concern, it decreases the effectiveness of the decision by weakening one's emotional abilities at the time of the decision. The interesting result is that the concern affects positively the decision-making efficiency of people with weak emotional abilities. They are more cautious and doing more research. In people with high emotional competence, the results are quite different, a sense of concern reduces the effectiveness of their decision. So, if you have low emotional competence, continue to worry ...

Researchers' comment was that people with high emotional competencies reduced not only negative feelings such as worry, sadness, but also affect positive emotions.

According to Stephane Cote, people with high emotional abilities do not eliminate their emotions, they only have the ability to reduce or destroy feelings that are not relevant to the subject.

If you want to move forward in decision-making and make your decisions give you better results, you should try to improve your competence. Moreover, you are fortunate, it is possible to increase your ability to manage emotions and your decision-making ability… You just have to peruse the opportunities.
